Baby Boomers

I came into this world a long time ago
Things were tough but I didn't know
Food was rationed after world war two
Heroes came home with no jobs to do
It didn't take much to find an alternative
Much more fun than working on the day shift

They were only doing what people everywhere do
Soon there was a population explosion
I was a baby boomer, a baby boomer
Growing up in the fifties was mighty good
I was a baby boomer, a baby boomer
Waiting for the winds of change to come

Rock n roll gave way in the sixties
To a new kind of music all of our own
The Americans had to take a back seat
The British bands just couldn't be beat
But the winds of change were coming fast
And that sweet soul music was the next new blast

All this change brought confusion and trouble
The rockers with their old black leather jackets
Riding their BSA's, Norton's and Triumphs
While the mods came dressed in shiny mohair suits
They rode Italian Vespa and Lambretta scooters
Loved the soul music coming over from Motown

We were all baby boomers, baby, baby boomers
Fighting each other over different choices
Madness descended on the South coast beaches
Friend against friend, Mods and rockers
We were all baby boomers, baby baby boomers
How did we ever come to this?

We were all baby boomers, baby baby boomers
How did we ever come to this?
Friend against friend, Mods and rockers
Fighting on the beaches and through the streets
We were all baby boomers, baby, baby boomers
How did we ever come to this?

But the winds of change they blew mighty fast
The hippies brought peace and love at last
At the start of the seventies things moved on again
To flower power and the music festivals at Bath
We were all back together, all around the world
We were all baby boomers, baby, baby boomers
We were all baby boomers, all around the world
We were all baby boomers, baby, baby boomers

Peace and love, it came to us at last
The flower power and the festivals at Bath
We were all baby boomers, baby, baby boomers
We were all baby boomers, all around the world
Baby, baby boomers, baby, baby boomers
Baby, baby boomers, baby, baby boomers
Peace and love, it came to us at last
