Bourbon Street

I took a trip down to New Orleans, I walked along Bourbon Street
In the steps of my heroes, it felt so sweet, so sweet
The ghost of Louis Armstrong walked with me
There was music in the air and all for free.

Rock and Roll, Jazz, Cajun and Blues
All mixed together, mighty good news
Fats Domino and Buddy Guy,
Buckwheat Zydeco and Beausoleil

Frankie Ford went on a Sea Cruise
But he came back singing the blues
Professor Longhair and Dr John
All lived here, their sounds live on

Voodoo magic, living in the walls
The spirit of the blues is one that calls
New Orleans doesn't have a care
That crazy music is everywhere.

Flyin' saucers rock n roll, I heard it
Flying out the window of a bar so old
Number 711 Bourbon Street
The Tricou House was jumpin' to the beat

I walked inside and took to the stage
I blew some harp and it was all the rage
That electric harp blowin' through the mains
That rhythm and blues running through my veins

I drank a Hurricane and I called it Katrina
It hit me hard and made me feel a little weaker
Little did I know that a short time later
She would come on back like an angry alligator

But New Orleans and Bourbon Street
Rose out of that water that wasn't so sweet
That old French Quarter is thriving again
If I had to score it I would give it a ten

Rock n Roll, Jazz, Cajun and Blues
All mixed together, mighty good news
Fats Domino and Buddy Guy,
Buckwheat Zydeco and Beausoleil

Voodoo magic, living in the walls
The spirit of the blues is one that calls
New Orleans doesn't have a care
That crazy music is everywhere.

Rhythm and blues gets in your soul
That's the music that makes you whole
Would I go back there, you bet I would
I would be there still, if only I could

New Orleans surely has it all
In the Big Easy you'll have a ball
The house of the rising sun, doesn't exist
But you'll find things there you can't resist

Jambalaya and crawfish poor boy
The Alpine Cafe has plenty more boy
Hot boudain and filet gumbo
Mixed with music full of gusto

Rock n Roll, Jazz, Cajun and Blues
All mixed together, mighty good news
Fats Domino and Buddy Guy,
Buckwheat Zydeco and Beausoleil

Voodoo magic, living in the walls
The spirit of the blues is one that calls
New Orleans doesn't have a care
That crazy music is everywhere.
