For Kim Hibberd

Crazy Diamond

Two soldiers served their country in different times
Useless wars damaged both of their minds
In a different space they might have been close friends
Instead of murder leading to their ends

That crazy diamond, he was my friend
He sang the blues trying to transcend
His troubled mind that gave him hell
He turned to drink to make him well
When he was drunk he would swear and curse
Those demons only got worse and worse

That crazy diamond, he was my friend
He didn't deserve to meet his terrible end.
He was murdered in the dead of night
By a troubled man who wanted to fight.
And a girl who gave him the green light
They killed that that frail old crazy diamond

He was a singer, a songwriter and a poet.
With a heart of gold and a giant spirit
He's left a hole that no one can fill
He's left a legacy that no one can kill
His friends who will never forget
That crazy diamond geezer

He was a crazy diamond geezer
He was old but he wasn't a wheezer
His friends will never let him die
He'll be remembered for ever and I
Will never forget "Kim"
That crazy diamond geezer.

He was old but he wasn't a wheezer
He was a crazy diamond geezer
His friends will never let him die
He'll be remembered for ever and I
Will never forget "Kim"
That crazy diamond geezer.
