My Life

My life was like a flash of light
From my first breath I had to fight
My momma she loved me and tried to keep me safe
But the drugs, they got her and took away her life
She left me in the darkness living in the shadows
In a flash of light my momma was gone
In a flash of light my momma was gone

That day, I became a man, I had to live the best I could
Had to get a job, to pay for rent and food
I was a boy, walking in a man's shoes
Trying to stay alive by joining the fight,
Working though the day and half the night
In a flash of light, half my life was gone
In a flash of light, half my life was gone

I found a good woman and I made her my wife
She made me happy, and brought me back to the light
Our love shone bright, like a fiery torch
We had good times together, and hoped they would last forever
But without any warning, she got sick and died
In a flash of light, my love was gone
In a flash of light, my love was gone

Again I was left all alone and feeling blue
This time I didn't have the heart to start anew
The woman I loved was gone, what could I do
She left me in the dark, living deep in shadow
I got my gun and I put it to my temple
In a flash of light my life was gone
In a flash of light my life was gone
